Synopsis

The year 2000. Xabi Ugarte travels to Barcelona in an attempt to flee the oppressive political atmosphere of the Basque Country and embark on an artistic career. He looks for a place to sleep and new friends. He tries to adapt to the way of life in the big city, but it is not so easy to leave behind the police violence he has known since he was a child, to avoid the weight of history or the hand of destiny.

Lander Garro has created an exciting nove
l with touches of humour as well as drama, mixing the Basque conflict and daily life, as well as the difficult balance between the misfortune of having to flee and sentimental relations. In his pages the reader meets prostitutes at both ends of society, young people who want to make films and junkies, Catalans who idealise the Basque Country and policemen offering detainees souvenirs.
